About This Blog

Greetings, one and everyone!

I must confess, this blog has come into existence primarily as a homework assignment for a marketing/social media course in which I am enrolled at an accredited university that shall remain nameless, lest I induce inadvertent undue embarrassment upon the institution.  That said, what it becomes henceforth is yet to be determined.

I don’t quite remember when I found my voice, that is, when I began to speak, but my entire family can vouch for the fact that I was never the Chatty Cathy my elder sister proved to be at a young age (and remains to be, come to think of it…).  Needless to say, I believe I would have set a Guinness World Record for introvertism, if such things were in fact measured in any capacity.

My natural shyness has proven a useful tool, or perhaps an unconscious agar, in a lifelong hobby of mine: people watching!  I’m an amateur, developing observer at best [*insert slight sarcasm here*] and find abundant amounts of delight watching the daily behaviors and interactions of others, perfect strangers in public settings.

Now, maybe some of you out there would call me nosy, but I preferrrr…… hmmmmm ……Dynamic Observational Facilitator!

I enjoy reflectively witnessing the endlessly fascinating, ridiculously riveting, outrageously hysterical, shockingly awkward, preposterously unbelievable exchanges between my fellow human beings as our lives uniquely intermingle like a psychedelic amoeba kaleidoscope.  Don’t stare at it too long, you’ll get dizzy. You can quote me on that.

The best places to hone my craft are obviously public spaces: airports, parks, theaters and the like.  But as I don’t find myself in such places as often as I’d like, I’ll focus on trains, or what we in Chicago affectionately call the “L”. (find out why we call it this, go ahead, click here!)

What is it that makes us tick?  Why do we act and respond the ways that we do?  Burning questions that motivate me, and this blog, to explore econo-racia-socio-cultural human interactions on various methods of public transportation.

As I ruminate on my experiences, I invite you to provide your digital head nods and/or finger wags.  Funny, odd, interesting, confounding, awkward, offensive, enlightening experiences – come one, come all.  Yes, this is first and foremost a blog, MY blog, but with a little of your input, it might also be a stimulating conversation (…or…a piquant argument).

Let the ponderings begin!
